DACIU (Development of High Intellectual Abilities at the University) is a program of excellence launched by the Avanza Foundation with the aim of promoting the talent and skills of university students with high intellectual abilities. It is an innovative proposal that brings together universities, teaching staff and students in a project that is committed to the development of talent through the implementation of activities focused on research.
DACIU program seeks to go beyond the formal university curricula to provide personalized development opportunities for students with high intellectual abilities. To this end, the Avanza Foundation has developed an excellence plan that adapts to the needs of these students, offering them a set of specific activities that allow them to develop their full potential.
DACIU offers activities including research projects, seminars, conferences and various extracurricular activities. These activities take place in a collaborative environment where students can interact with other students, professors and experts in different disciplines.
The DACIU program aims not only to enhance the talent of university students with high intellectual abilities, but also to contribute to the development of society as a whole through the generation of knowledge, research and innovation. In this way, DACIU is expected to have a positive impact on the academic and professional world, promoting the development of new ideas and solutions to the challenges of the contemporary world.
DACIU student has the support of a professor who serves as a tutor and mentor in a personal research project, which allows for the ideal collaboration for the development of talent. This collaboration represents a unique opportunity, both for the students due to the learning opportunity it represents, and for the participating faculty, who face the challenge of caring for people with great ability and enthusiasm for the research project.
The DACIU Program is developed in several phases:
- Presentation phase at universities and signing of agreements. Meetings are held with university representatives (rectors, vice-rectors, etc.) to inform them of the characteristics of the program.
Signing of agreement to join the Fundación Avanza-Universidad program. - Dissemination phase of the Program. In order to ensure that both students and teachers are aware of the program, various communication actions are carried out to make them aware of what DACIU consists of, as well as the impact that participation in the program will have at all levels. It is carried out through different media: social networks, our website (www.daciu.com), face-to-face information and orientation sessions at participating universities, and media outlets that are supporting the launch of this innovative program.
- Application registration and selection phase. Specific deadlines are set for receiving applications, both from university professors and from university students with high intellectual abilities. Once they arrive at our selection department, a process of selecting participants is carried out based on criteria in which the desire to become part of DACIU is fundamental. If you are interested, you should pay close attention to these dates so as not to miss the opportunity to become part of DACIU .
- Teacher training phase. The training process is carried out for the teachers who are going to participate in the program. This phase is very important because it serves to specialize the teachers in the care of students with high intellectual abilities within the program, something that will serve them not only to develop their participation in DACIU , but will also open up more possibilities for action in their teaching.
- Development phase of the DACIU Program . During this phase, each selected student is guided by a university professor for the seven months that each edition lasts. During these months, the DACIU student lends his or her assistance in an active research project. This phase culminates with the preparation, publication and dissemination of a research article. It is important to note that the selected participants, both students and faculty, will have the opportunity to include in their curriculum that they have been part of this program, something that shows an exceptional teaching or learning capacity.
- Extra Phase. On a voluntary basis, DACIU studentswho complete the research phase and wish to develop their talents in the business field may apply for extracurricular internships. The assignment of internships depends on the offer obtained in a joint effort between Universities and Fundación Avanza.
